For those of you who are fans of golf or have been plagued by injury, I want to say thanks for visiting! My name is Ben Miers, and I am a doctor of physical therapy focused in clinical sports orthopedics. Sports has always been a part of my life from as early as I can remember. After many years of involvement in multiple sports, golf has surpassed them all. Saying that I love golf is an understatement. It is my calling. I am hoping to take this energy and passion into my new endeavor.

A recurrence of lower back pain and disc herniation led me towards an initiative to take better care of my body, seeking new information that could help me play golf without pain. The Titleist Performance Institute and Functional Movement Systems caught my attention. I certified with TPI as a medical and fitness certified expert. Leading PGA and LPGA Tour players use the same information from TPI experts in fitness, medical, and golf instruction. This gave me a new outlook on my role as a golfer and physical therapist. I began analyzing my body and golf swing with a deeper understanding of the mechanics of what I was supposed to see and feel with each swing.  Exercises designed to strengthen and stabilize my abdominals and buttock muscles, and stretches to my upper back, helped take pressure and pain away from my lower back. I noticed it immediately helped my game become more consistent and gain more power. I guess it became funny to me because I was over hitting greens because my approach game changed. It started helping me hit more fairways and greens.

I am overjoyed to work with individuals who share my passion for golf. Implementing knowledge from TPI will help players gain distance off the tee or in the fairway approaching the green. For those players that are in pain during or after your round, I implore you to seek individuals who have a deeper understanding of the game and have the same vigor for the sport. Undoubtedly, I am that guy.  Contact me if you think I am.

We don’t believe there is one way to swing a club. We believe there are an infinite number of ways to swing a club. But we do believe that there is one efficient way for everyone to swing a club and it is based on what they can physically do.
